Most of us have had thoughts about making a will but don’t actually get around to doing it. Many people take the view it is something that only needs dealing with “later on” or when they retire. If you feel uncomfortable thinking about writing your will why not look at it as a type of insurance which you take out to protect your loved ones’ assets.
Thousands of families every year have their bereavement situation made even worse because there is no will setting out clearly how their loved one’s estate should be dealt with.
Often the situation is made more difficult because to the tax payable which could have been saved or reduced with a properly worded will in place. Sometimes particular problems are caused because Inheritance Tax is payable before the beneficiaries have access to the legacy.
If you have a young family you really should think about what would happen to your children if you were not there to look after them. Have you appointed guardians in your will? If not Social Services will take responsibility for your children until a court decides what happens to them.
If you have already made a will but it was some time ago, is it still reflecting your wishes? Have you thought about the consequences of going into care and the costs averaging about £35,000 per year, that could be clawed back from your estate?
We can help you gain the peace of mind that comes with putting your affairs in good order, through making the right Will for your circumstances.
